A synthesis reaction between a metal and a non metal resulting in formation of an insoluble salt of iron:

Reaction: Iron + Sulphur ----> Iron Sulphide

Chemical Equation: Fe + S ------> FeS

Note: The reaction is Direct Combination reaction, which is also known as Synthesis reaction.

Iron and Sulphur (hot yellow) are mixed with each other, and the result is a black coloured insoluble salt of IRON, iron sulphide (FeS).
