Option C Made From Chemicals

  • Synthetic fibres are made by human beings that is why they these are called synthetic fibres.

  • A synthetic fibre is a chain of small units joined together.each small units is actually a chemical substance. many such small units combine to form a large single unit called a polymer. So a polymer is made of many repeating units.

  • A silk fibre obtaining from silkworm was discovered by china and was kept as closely guarded secret for a long time.

  • Fabric obtaining from silk fibre was very costly but it's beautiful texture facinated everybody. Attempt were made to make silk artificially.

  • Towards the end of nieneteenth century, scientists were successful in obtaining a fibre having properties similar to silk. such a fibre was obtained by Chemical treatment of wood pulp. This fibre was called Rayon or Artificial Silk.

  • Rayon is mixed with cotton to make bedsheets and mixed with wool to make carpets.

  • Nylon is another man- made fibre. In 2931, it was made it was made without using any natural raw material. it was prepared from coal, water and air.

  • It was first fully synthesized fibre,Nylon was strong, lustrous, and easy to wash. so it became very popular.

  • We use nylon to make socks, ropes tents, cars seat belt, sleeping bag etc. Nylon is more strong than a steel wire.

  • Polyster is another synthetic fibre. Fabric made from this fibre does not wrinkle easily it remains crisp and is easy to wash so, it's quite suitable for making dress material. Terylene is a popular polyster. It can be drawn into very fine fibres that can be woven like any other yarn. PET (polyethylene Terephthalate) is very familiar form of polyster. It is used to make bottles, utensils, wires and many useful products.

  • We wear sweaters and use shawals in winter, many of this are actually not wool, though they appear to resemble wool. These are prepared from another type of synthetic fibre called Arcylic. The wool obtained from natural resources is quite expensive. Whereas clothes made from Arcylic are relatively cheap. They are available in many colours. Synthetic fibre are more durable and affordable which makes them more popular than natural Fibres.

  • They dry up quickly.
  • They are durable.
  • They are Less expensive.
  • They are readily available.
  • They are easy to maintain.
