1) Rayon

It is obtained from a naturally occurring polymer called cellulose (extract from wood pulp). cellulose needs extensive chemical treatment to form rayon. It is also known as artificial silk.

It was the first synthetic fibre made from a natural source.

2) Nylon

Nylon is a man made fibre. In 1931 it was made without using any natural raw materials (from plant or animal) but prepared from coal, water and air.Nylon is the first trully synthetic fibre.

3) Polyester

Polyester is actually made up of repeating units of a chemical called Ester. Ester are are chemicals which give fruit like smell.

4) Acrylic

The wool obtained from natural source is quite expensive. A synthetic fibre that resembles wool is Acrylic. It is cheap and available in a variety of colour.
