t² - 2t - 8 = 0

» t² - 4t + 2t - 8 = 0

» t(t-4) + 2(t-4) = 0

» (t+2)(t-4) = 0

» t = 4, -2

  • Find the roots of the quadratic equation.

\star\:\:\:\bf\large\underline\blue{Solution:-}

 {t}^{2}  - 2t - 8 = 0

 \implies {t}^{2}  - 4t + 2t - 8 = 0

 \implies t(t - 4) + 2(t - 4) = 0

 \implies (t + 2)(t - 4) = 0

Therefore, Either (t+2)=0 or (t-4)=0.

So,

t + 2 = 0

 \implies t =  - 2

Also,

t - 4 = 0

 \implies t =  4
