(i) Name the types of cells of germinal epithelium.

(ii) Name the cells scattered in connective tissue and lying between seminiferous tubules.

Differentiate between them on the basis of their functions.

i) Answer to first is spermatogonia-these cells first divide by mitosis followed my meiosis to finally form sperm.

(i) The different types of cells that are present in the germinal epithelium are,  

  •      Sertoli cells - They help in the nourishment of the developing germ cells  
  •      Stem cells - They are precursor cells for the germ cells.  

(ii) The cells that are scattered in the "connective tissue" and lying between "seminiferous tubules" are,  

  •      Interstitial cells (Leydig cells) - They produce the hormone testosterone or the androgen  with the signalling of the "luteinizing hormone".
