Question 1) :- Mean of 21, 30, 22, 16, 24, 28, 18, 17 is....?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Mean = sum of observations / total number of observations.

so,

→ Mean = (21 + 30 + 22 + 16 + 24 + 28 + 18 + 17) / 8

→ Mean = 176/8

→ Mean = 22 (Ans.)

Question 2) :- Mean of 12 numbers is 20. If each number is multiply by 6, find the new mean ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • If we multiply constant value in each value, we have to multiply it by mean also .

so,

→ New mean = Old mean * k (constant value)

→ New mean = 20 * 6

→ New mean = 120 (Ans.)

Question 3) :- If arithmetic mean of 30 number is 16. If each number is divided by 4, then the new mean is....?

Solution :-

→ New mean = old mean ÷ k (constant value)

→ New mean = 16 ÷ 4

→ New mean = 4 (Ans.)
