Tyloses (singular – tylosis) are the balloon like outgrowth of parenchymatous cells to the lumen of tracheids or vessels of the secondary xylem. The axial and ray parenchyma of the xylem develops protrusion and these protrusions enter or invade into the lumen of tracheids
