Answer:

Let's say the other sprinter' speed is x; while:

The faster sprinter has a speed of x + 9; And he travelled a distance of 93 km =>

Time = Distance / Speed = 93 / (x +9) Hours.

During that same time the slower sprinter covered only 66 km =>

Time = 66 / x Hours; Now we have an equation using the equal time:

Time = 66 / x = 93 / (x +9) ; => using the cross-product of both fractions:

93 x = 66*(x +9); => 93 x - 66 x = 9 * 66; => 27 x = 594; => x = 594/27 = 22 km/hr.

The faster sprinter speed is: 22 + 9 = 31 km/hr.

Answer:

let vanesa runs = x km

then tbhutha runs five km less then vanesa = x-5km

Total distance = x+(x-5) = 31km

= 2x-5=31

=x=36÷2

x= 18

which is distance of vanesa and tbhitha is 18-5 = 13km.
