Magnezium chloride (mgcl2) is a common impurity present in nacl as mgcl2 is highly hygroscopic it absorbs moisture from air. due to the presence of mgcl2 in nacl the latter becomes wet. this type of wetting is generally observed in sample of nacl extracted directly from sea water becoz mgcl2 chloride also occurs in sea water
