Matters can be classified into two types solid liquid and gas.
solid:
it has a definite mass and occupies space. particles are tightly packed when compared to liquid. movement of particles is very less.
liquid :
particles are loosely packed when compared to solid . movement of particle is mote when compared to to solid.
gas:

Solids :

Solids have definite shape and fixed volumes.

Liquids :

Liquids have no fixed shape but have a fixed volume.

Gases :

In the gaseous state, the particles move about randomly, at high speed and they have more space between particles.
