there are only four types of matter state-

1 solid

the intermolecular spaces between the molecules of the solid is minimum

the intermolecular force of attraction is maximum for solids

There definite number of free surfaces

the molecules vibrate along their mean position

2 liquid

the intermolecular spaces between the molecules is more than solids and less than gas

the intermolecular force of attraction is less than solids but more than gas

it has three number of free surfaces

the molecules are free to move within the liquid but not that much as gases

3 gas

the intermolecular force of attraction is the least

the intermolecular space between the molecules is the maximum

there is no free surface

the molecules of gases can freely roam

4 plasma<not required just for more information>

Explanation:

solids

1) Solids have definite shape amd volume .

2) the particles are closely packed.

3)the forces of attraction are maximum

4)they are rigid

liquids

1)liquids have definite volume but not definite shape

2) the particles are less closely packed

3)the forces of attraction are least

4)they are fluid

gases

1)gases have neither definite shape nor definite volume

2)The particles are least closely packed

3)the forces of attraction are negligible

4)they are fluid

hope it help
