Private Quelch was proud of his knowledge. He like to show it off to everyone. He even would degrade the others and soon he was disliked by his batch mates. Though he had a lot of knowledge, he lacked the tact in dealing with others. He tried to show that he knew something more than his instructors and in turn was assigned cookhouse duties instead of getting a commission.If he had acted tactfully, then maybe he would have been one of the favourites of his instructors. But his eagerness to show that he was the most intelligent person around, he messed up his life.
