The production of thyroxine is not possible in iodine deficient water. Without the production of thyroxine, it is impossible for metemorphosis.

Answer:

The growth and developmental process in a tadpole is controlled by the hormone; Thyroxine. Produced by the Thyroid gland. It is necessary for the presence of Iodine in the water for the production of these hormones. Incase the tadpole grows in a water that lacks Iodine the tadpole will not grow and die in the same stage itself.
