Tagore also visited his father's estate at
Shantiniketan. There Tagore read biographies,
studied history, astronomy, modern science and
Sanskrit. He also read works of Kalidas. Tagore wrote
a long poem in Maithili language. People of Mithila
spoke Maithili language. In 1878 he went to London.
He enrolled at a public school in Brighton, England.
He wanted to become a barrister. Later he studied at

As he failed in achieving
success, his father called him back. Tagore travelled
