A large amount of wastes are generated every year from the industrial processing of agricultural raw materials. Most of these wastes are used as animal feed or burned as alternatives for their disposal. Agricultural wastes have huge potential for the production of enzymes. They are renewable form of resources generated round the year all over the world. These materials are accumulated in enormous amounts alone and serve as source of environmental pollution. Due to its abundant availability, it can serve as an ideal substrate for microbial processes for the production of enzymes. Agricultural processing inevitably goes along with the production of large amounts of agro-residues, which may represent a major waste disposal problem. In recent years, there has been an increasing trend towards efficient utilization and value-addition of agro-industrial residues such as wheat bran, coffee pulp, sugarcane bagasse, apple pomace and others. The production of enzymes by a bioprocesses is a good alternative to add value to agro industries residues. The a bioconversion of the agro waste material into fuel has received considerable interest over the recent years. This lignocellulosic material is present in abundance and available free of cost. Enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulosic biomass is considered as the most efficient and least polluting methods for generating glucose from lignocellulosics. The agricultural wastes represent a significant potential for the development of a biorefineries in different sectors, such as cereals. Recovery of phytochemicals as well as the energetic valorisation of the plant matrices needs the demolition of the cell walls of plants. Use of agro industries residues as substrates in fermentation processes provides an alternative avenue and value-addition. The concept of utilizing excess biomass or waste from agricultural and agro-industrial residues to produce enzymes is not necessarily new. Recently, fermentation of biomass has gained considerable attention because of the forthcoming scarcity of fossil fuels, and as it is necessary to increase the world food and feed supplies, especially those high in protein.

Tailor-made enzymes for the industrial use have been developed which assist in converting plant material into fuel.

  • Enzymes are used in the chemical industry and other industrial applications when they require extremely precise catalysts.
  • The enzymes are then used in the production of sugars from starch, or for the conversion of plant material into fuel.
  • The conversion of enzymes, accurately and quickly obtain the final product and is a rigorous practice in industry.
