According to Euler's formula, no of edges (E), faces(F) & vertexes(V) are related as -
F + V - E = 2
# For example -
1) Cube -
LHS = F + V - E
LHS = 6 + 8 - 12
LHS = 2
LHS = RHS
2) Pyramid -
LHS = F + V - E
LHS = 5 + 6 - 9
LHS = 2
LHS = RHS
3) Tetrahedron -
LHS = F + V - E
LHS = 4 + 4 - 6
LHS = 2
LHS = RHS
4) Octahedron -
LHS = F + V - E
LHS = 8 + 6 - 12
LHS = 2
LHS = RHS
5) Icosahedron -
LHS = F + V - E
LHS = 20 + 12 - 30
LHS = 2
LHS = RHS
