Take a ball and roll it on a piece of land covered by grass or mud. Try rolling the same ball on a smooth surface Like a tiled or marbled floor. Is there any difference?

It is hard to roll the ball on the muddy surface but the ball easily rolls along the smooth surface. This is because of the difference in textures.  Rougher the surface, lesser the friction.
