Take a sheet of paper. Draw a spiral on it as shown in the figure. Cut out the paper along the line. Suspend the paper as shown in figure above a lighted candle. Observe what happens. Think of an explanation.

The cut out spiral paper starts spinning above the candle due to convection current.
1) As the candle is lighted and the spiral cut out of the paper is suspended above the candle, the air near the candle is heated and it rises above because hot air is less dense than cool air.
2) As the hot air rises above, cooler air replaces it which again gets heated and this cycle continues which leads to the spinning of the spiral cut out of the paper.
3) This cycle of moving air is known as convection current.
