Take an empty jam jar. Put a handful of soil in it. Pour 400 ml of water and stir the mixture well. Leave it aside for a couple of days and observe carefully the different layers of soil.
Observations: note down your observations in the following format: 1. How many layers of soil have you observed? 2. Have you observed any dead leaves or organisms floating on water. 3. Go to a construction site, and try to relate different layers of soil with the layers formed in the jam jar.
