Take an onion peel from the concave side of the onion bulb. Cut the peel into two rectangular pieces. Put one of the pieces into dilute sugar solution and the other into concentrated sugar solution. Observe it after 15-20 minutes .Record your obserbation and draw suitable diagrams in both cases and state the reason.

dilute sugar solution is hypotonic. ..so onion cell swells up due to endosmosis && conc. sugar solution is hypertonic so cell shrinks due to exosmosis

According to the circumstances mentioned in the question,thaf if we take an onion peel from the concave side of the onion bulb. Cut the peel into two rectangular pieces. Put one of the pieces into dilute sugar solution and the other into concentrated sugar solution.

The onion peel in the diluted syrup will be swelled up because diluted syrup is hypotonic which causes endosmosis.

On the other hand;

The onion peel in the concentrated syrup will be shrink because concentrated syrup is hypertonic which causes exosmosis.
