When copper nitrate is taken in test tube and heated on a flame then the copper nitrate salt breaks.

The chemical formulae of the copper nitrate salt is cu(NO3)3.

All copper salts are blue in colour.

Therefore, cu(NO3)3 colour is blue.

When cu(NO3)3 is heated then it breaks to give CuO (Copper Oxide), NO2 (Nitrogen Dioxide) and Oxygen (O2).

The reaction type is decomposition reaction. cu(NO3)3=cuo+3no2+o2
