You have it the other way around--it is our moods and biochemical substances which can affect the HR such as fear, anxiety and anger. "Adrenalin Rush" affects the HR as does the opposite--salvage maneuvers cause a slow HR. For greatly increased HR's from super ventricular tachycardia which can be paired with shortness of breath, one can become anxious due to the tachycardia--but mostly, our mood affects the HR
