take few iron nails and store some of them in an air tight container having silica gel. Leave the rest of the iron nails in a test tube and place them outside in the rainy weather. Observe the iron nails after a week. Which way would you prefer to keep iron nails?

The iron nails stored in the air tight container remain the same.

This is because silica gel absorbs moisture. Iron

The nails, on absorbing moisture, begin to rust.

The nails in a test tube which are kept outside rust.

This is because the nails absorb moisture and rust. The moisture is absorbed from the rainy weather.

a. Nails placed in the air tight container will remain unaffected and no rust would beformed on them due to absence of moisture. Nails placed outside in the test tube

would react with oxygen and moisture and formed rust.

b. I would prefer to keep the nails in an air tight.
