When a drop of red ink makes its way into a beaker of water, the entire solution obtains a red tinge. This is because, the molecules of the red ink, on first contact with water, immediately try to occupy the inter-molecular space among the water molecules. This process enables the solvent (i.e. water) to obtain the colour of the solute (that is, red ink). This phenomenon is called Diffusion.
