Take three clean plastic or rubber caps of bottles. Por about 2 teaspoons of distilled water in each of them. Add a few drops of dilute hidrochloric acid to distilled water in one cap. Now, in the second cap, add a few drops of a base such as caustic soda. Add a little sugar to the distilled water in the third cap and dissolved it.

Answer:

Caps containing hydrochloric acid and caustic soda conduct electricity.

Cap containing sugar will not conduct electricity.

Explanation:

i) Caps containing hydrochloric acid and caustic soda conduct electricity.

Reason:

Solutions like hydrochloric acid and caustic soda dissolves into ions ( H+, Na+, OH- and Cl-) and ions can move freely in the solutions.

ii) Cap containing sugar will not conduct electricity.

Reason:

Sugar, while dissolving in water, appears to be converted into ions, but they do not. They will remain as sugar molecules itself in the solution.
