because antibiotics are only helpful against a bacterial disease , it actually stop the cell wall synthesis of bacteria, thus helping in reducing of the disease.
But common cold is caused by virus, virus doesn't have it's own mechanism, it lives inside the blood cell , when get entered to the body. And as cold isn't a bacterial disease, antibiotics aren't helful.
