Hi!

In the story Last Leaf and the poem Small pain in my chest, we see that human emotions play a big role in the decision making process, particularly emotions like greed, fear, optimism, and pessimism.
In the story Last Leaf we see a kind old man, Mr Behrman.
When Behrman heard that Johnsy was planning to die as soon as the last leaf fell, he scoffed. Unknown to Sue and Johnsy, however, Behrman snuck out and painted his final masterpiece – a leaf. Johnsy watched the last leaf, day after day, but it never fell. She finally realizes that someone was sending her a message, get up, get going, get out of your funk. She decides to do this when lo and behold, the girls find out that Old Behrman has contracted pneumonia and has died. How did he get it? Being out in the cold, painting the last leaf.
Sue is a caring individual, waiting on Johnsy and hoping for her recovery. She takes great pains to help Johnsy get better as she was very fond of her.
Here Sue cried a Japanese tissue to pulp indicating her sadness.
This entire story depicts sadness, faith, self sacrifice and consideration.

In
the poem A Small Pain In My chest we see how a brave soldier who was at war now beckons to the writer.
This poem was beautiful, because it was true. Truth is beautiful, because even in all out ugliness and darkness it allows the soul to focus on a moment's action; and thus set a course. It's an amazing testament to a person's humanity and the heartbreak of our frailties
The author was touched because of the soldiers story,

This entire poem depicts sadness, braveness, self sacrifice and remorse..
