Answer. 1. Mg has a valency of 2+ and Chlorine has a valencg of 1- which means that the compound is formed when Mg gives away its electrons to Cl. No sharing is done in fact Mg is loosing its electrons and Chlorine is gaining electrons whereas in compound of CCl4 Carbon is sharing its elextrons with chlorine.
