Waste is commonly generated in apartments,complexes and buildings. Managing domestic waste has become a necessity. Methods for reducing waste, reusing waste and recycling are best options for managing our home waste.

Reduce waste when you shop :

• Choose packages that are recyclable.
• Purchase one large pack instead of multiple small packets.
• Consume less of bottled drinking water.

Segregation of wastes :

Segregation of waste reduces the waste you put out and makes it simpler to recycle or compost.

• Dry waste : Keep separate bin for dry wastes such as flowers, plastic, papers,metals etc... as they can be reduced and recycled.
• Wet waste : Wet waste like kitchen waste, fruit peel,egg shells, vegetables etc.... separately as they can be used in compost.
• Hazardous waste : This includes batteries, cosmetics,wires,expired medicines, thermometers,used syreiges . These should be disposed of dialy.

Reduce the amount of waste you create :

• Avoid unnecessary purchases of products.
• Buy products that are durable and have long life.
• Reduce turnover of cloths and other products.

Collective efforts :

All the residents should take collective action for reducing and managing the waste generated inder apartment. All residents should segregate their waste. There should be separate waste collection bins for different waste. There should be a common compost bin for all residents. The association should create awareness among residents regarding proper waste management.
