Question :- If LET + LEE = ALL and every letter represents a unique digit (0 to 9) throughout the problem, then what is LT + LE ? (given A = 3)

Solution :-

Putting A = 3 we get,

L E T

L E E (+)

-------

3 L L

-------

As, we can see 3 digit + 3 digits = 3 digits.

we can conclude that, we didn't have Carry one in Last .

A is given 3 . we can say that, 3 is sum of L + L and 1 (carry).

So,

→ L + L + 1 = 3

→ 2L = 3 - 1

→ 2L = 2

L = 1.

Putting value of L also now,

1 E T

1 E E (+)

-------

3 1 1

-------

Now, similarly, second digit from left we have 1 in final sum , which is the sum of E + E and 1 (carry).

So,

E + E + 1 = 1

→ E + E = 1 - 1

→ 2E = 0 = 10 (1carry).

→ E = 5.

Putting value of E also now,

1 5 T

1 5 5 (+)

-------

3 1 1

-------

Now, in final we have T + 5 = 1 and 1 is carry .

Therefore,

T + 5 = 11

→ T = 11 - 5

T = 6 .

Hence, LET + LEE = ALL is Equal to :-

1 5 6

1 5 5 (+)

-------

3 1 1

-------

Putting all values we get,

→ LT + LE

→ 16 + 15

31. (Ans.)
