When I first saw a snake I was terribly scared I ran speedily towards my house. Then at home, I got to know a few things about snakes.

• Just let it be. In general, snakes are timid and won't bite until provoked, so it's better to avoid approaching them.

• Get everyone, including pets, out of the room as soon as you see a snake within your house. Close the door, place a towel in the space beneath, and then make a call to a qualified snake catcher for help.

• Watch where a snake goes if you see one outdoors. You will likely not see it again if it is moving toward a scrub or an open pasture. You may need to hire a snake catcher if it disappears into a shed or beneath a car.
