Sec should be positive and tan negetive, as the identity says,

sec {}^{2}  \alpha  = 1 + tan { }^{2} \alpha
if we shift tan to the RHS

we get ,

 \sec{}^{2}   \alpha  -  \tan {}^{2}  { \alpha  = 1}
