Tanay and Vihaan together have 50 sweets. Both of them ate up 5 sweets
each, and the product of the number of sweets they now have is 351.
We need to find out how many sweets each of them had to start with

Answer:

Let the number of sweets with tanay be X .

Let the number of sweets with vihaan be Y .

Therefore, according to condition 1

X+Y = 50

X = 50-Y

Let the above given equation be 1 .

It is given that both of them eat up their five sweets

Therefore , the sweets left with tanay will be X-5 and with vihaan will be Y-5 .

According to condition 2 ,

(X-5) x (Y-5) = 351

There fore ,

XY -5X -5Y + 25 = 351

(50-Y)Y - 50 + Y - 5Y = 326

50Y - Y² + Y - 5Y = 376

-Y² + 46Y = 376

Y² - 46Y + 376 = 0

Now we need to solve it by quadratic equation formula method to get the answer
