Answer:

triangle A0B is right angled triangle

OB^2=AB^2+OA^2

15^2=12^2+OA^2

225=144+OA^2

OA^2=225-144

OA=√81

OA=9cm

radius is 9cm

AB is tangent to circle.

OA is a radius.

To Find : Length of radius.

SOLUTION:

Angle OAB = 90⁰ , as the line drawn from the centre to the tangent of a circle is perpendicular at the point of contact,

Thus, by Pythagoras Theorem, (Hypotenuse)² = (Perpendicular)² + (Base)²

 =  >

 {OB}^{2}  =  {OA}^{2}  +  {AB}^{2}  \\  =  > {15}^{2}  =  {OA}^{2}  +  {12}^{2}  \\  =  > 225 - 144 =  {OA}^{2}  \\  =  >  {OA}^{2}  = 81 \\   =  > OA =  \sqrt{81}  \\ OA = 9

Thus, lenght of radius = OA = 9cm
