Tap A can fill 1 tank in 8 hours

Tap A fills in 1 hour =1/8 tank

Tap B can empty 1 tank in 12 hours.

Tap B empties in 1 hour=1/12 tank

Both taps will fill in 1 hour =(1/8 - 1/12) tank

                                          = 3 - 2

                                               24

                                          = 1/24

Hence, the tank will be filled completely in 24 hours
