Given :

Water at 20 degree centigrade and another tap water at 80 degree centigrade .

To find :

The amount of hot water that should be mixed with cold water to get 36 liters of water at 45 degree centigrade .

Solution :

Let amount of water of 20 degree centigrade be x .

Then , the amount of 80 degree centrigrade water will be ( 36 - x ) .

Now ,

36 * 45 = 20 * x + ( 36 - x ) * 80

=> 1620 = 20 * x + 2880 - 80 * x

=> 60 * x = 1260

=> x = 21

Amount of hot water = 36 - 21 = 15 litres

The amount of hot water that should be mixed with cold water to get 36 liters of water at 45 degree centigrade is 15 litres .
