because tap water  contains some amounts of salt, chemicals which give H+ ion. therefore it conduct electricity. whereas distilled water do not contain these things i.e. they do not conduct electricity

Presence of dissolved salt in tap water conducts electricity whereas distilled water does not.

Explanation:

Distilled water is formed by evaporating normal water in which the vapor is collected and converted back into liquid and this water is called distilled water. The salt present in the pure water settles down and remains in the evaporating dish.

On the other hand tap water is supplied directly through the source and it contains high amount of salts. Due to presence of salts it conducts electricity.
