Plant propagation from the vegetative part of a parent plant through asexual mode is called vegetative propagation. This is possible because of the presence of meristematic tissue capable of cellular differentiation, in many plant tissues. A part of stem, root or leaf can grow adventitious roots and form a new plant.
Some plants have swollen fleshy roots called root tubers. These tubers bear buds which can develop into the new plant if covered with moist soil e.g., sweet potato, dahlia, yam, tapioca, asparagus etc.
