Tara looks up hotel room prices for a holiday.
A hotel has a 25% off sale on its prices.
A VAT charge of 20% must be added on at the end of the transaction after any discount.
If the regular price of a room is £80 per night, how much will Tara pay for 7 nights?

Step-by-step explanation:

REGULAR PRICE £80

DISCOUNT OF 25%

PRICE IS 25% OF £80 IS £60

VAT IS ADDED TO IT WHICH IS 20 % SO 20%OF £60 IS £72

TARA WANTS THE ROOM FOR 7NIGHTS SO,

Given:

Room per night =  £ 80

Sales = 25% off

VAT = 20%

To Find:

The price for a 7 nights stay

Solution

Find the price for 1 night after discount:

Discount = 25%

Discount = 0.25 x 80

Discount =  £ 20

Price after discount = 80 - 20

Price after discount = £ 60

Find the price with VAT:

VAT = 20%

VAT = 0.2 x 60

VAT = £ 12

Price with VAT = 60 + 12

Price with VAT = £ 72

Find the price for 7 nights:

1 night = £ 72

7 nights = 72 x 7

7 nights = £ 504

Answer: It will cost £ 504 for 7 nights
