State Parallelogram law of vectors. Derive expression for the magnitude and
direction of the resultant vector.
PE 2013, 14, 20 AP & TE
* Statement: Iftwo vectors are represented in magnitude and direction by the two adjacent
sides of a parallelogram drawn from a point then their resultant is represented in magnitude
and direction by the diagonal passing through the same point.
Explantion: Let A=OP and B=0Q are two vectors starting from point 'O'. Let be
the angle between two vectors A and B. A parallelogram OPSQ is constructed using these
vectors as adjacent sides.
Diagonal OS represents the resultant vector R.
Magnitude of the resultant vector R:
Let us extend the line OP to 'N' and draw a perpendicular from S on to N.
From the parallelogram OPSQ, ZOOP - ZSPN
