The correct answer is option (B)Two cartons of two litres from offer B and 1 carton of 1 litre from offer A.

GIVEN

The total volume of orange juice purchased = 5 liters.

Offer A = ₹65 per liter.

Offer B = ₹125 per 2 liters

Offer C = ₹256 per liter.

TO FIND.

The combination of offers on cartons would get him the lowest amount.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem. as follows.

We have to find out the combination of offers which would get him the lowest amount.

If Tariq chooses:-

option A- 5 cartons of 1 litre from offer A.

Total volume of orange juice purchased = 5L

Cost of 1litre of orange juice in Offer A = 65

Cost of 5 litre of orange juice = 65 × 5 = 325 Rs.

So Option A would cost him 325 Rs for 5 liters.

Option B -Two cartons of two litres from offer B and 1 carton of 1 litre from offer A.

Cost of 1 carton of two litres of orange juice from offer B = 125

Cost of 2 Two-liters cartons = 125 ×2 = 250Rs.

Cost of 1 liter carton from offer A = 65

Total cost of 5liters from this combination = 250+65 = 315Rs

So, Option B would cost him 315 Rs for 5 litres.

Option C - 3 Cartons Of 1 Litre From Offer A And 1 Carton Of 2 Litres From Offer B

Cost of 1 litre of orange juice from offer A = 65Rs

Cost of 3 liters of orange juice = 65×3 = 195Rs.

Cost of 1 two-liter carton of orange juice = 125 Rs.

So

Total cost of 5 liters of orange juice = 195+125 = 320 Rs.

So, option c would cost him 320 Rs for 5 liters.

We can observe that-

315 < 320 < 325.

Hence, the combination in option B would cost him the lowest amount for 5 liters of orange juice.
