Taruns rise as an athletic champion. Narrate it?

Answer:
Explanation:
Tarun was a mediocre student. His parents were unhappy with him because he never scored well. He was
also not good at other things like singing, dancing, painting, etc. On the other hand, his elder brother was good at
academics and was pursuing a degree in engineering from a reputed college. Tarun considered himself to be the black
sheep of the family.
It was not that Tarun was a ‘good for nothing’ boy. He was blessed with the strength of a great athlete. He was
an excellent runner—he could run for hours. He knew his strengths and therefore, aspired to be the fastest runner in
the world. But he knew his limitations as well. He knew that he needed someone who could give him an intensive
training, but it was not possible as the amount of training was beyond the reach of his family.
When the result of Tarun’s terminal examination was declared, his father was very angry with him as he had
failed. His friends also made fun of him. He was very disappointed so he went to the park and ran for an hour. After
an hour of running he was completely exhausted. He sat on a bench trying to normalize his breath. An old man, sitting
on the same bench, had been noticing his running. He was Ram Narayan, a man of sixty, who had won an Olympic
medal in the 400 metre race in 1960s. He had watched a good runner in him and offered to impart intensive training
on the condition that he would win the race on Children’s Day at the Nehru Stadium.
Tarun started practicing with a great zeal. He used to run ten miles in the morning and time himself in the
evening. He practiced for five days and then collected his participation card. On 14th November, he was very excited.
He reached the stadium and met Mr. Ram Narayan. He was a bit scared, but then he saw his mother standing in the
crowd, cheering him. His confidence began to build up. The race started with Tarun leading ahead but after some
time, Tarun didn’t notice a shallow path on the track, so he slipped. He got up and started running again. But as luck
would have it, he slipped once again. Tears started rolling down his face. He felt that he would lose the race. Just then
he heard his mother and Ram Narayan cheering him up to run. He got up and started running once again. This time
he reached the finishing line but he was the last participant to reach it.
He was very upset. Ram Narayan came up to him and told him that he was very happy as he had won the
toughest race—the race of his life. He further added that he would start his training from the next day. Tarun was very
happy. His joy knew no bounds. Tarun could not believe his ears. Tears filled his eyes again. His mother hugged him
and told him that he was the best son in the world.
