Task 2. Here is Vaishak talking about something very
strange that happened when he was on his way to school
one morning

It was Monday morning and as usual I got up late. As a
result I missed the school bus and so I decided to cycle to school.
I started off. I had barely gone five metres when I went over a
large piece of stone.

Suddenly I heard a voice saying, 'Hey, watch out, Vaisu!'

I was so startled I stopped. I looked around but there was
no one near me. Only then I realized it was my cycle that hadjust spoken

We are given a part of an imaginary story that we need to complete.

When I realized that it was the cycle that was talking I was shocked beyond words. Still, I answered him back by saying sorry. The cycle replied that he was very tired of being driven fast and over the stones.

The cycle said that even we get hurt. As you get scratches we also get them. So you need to drive us with care. I again replied that I was extremely sorry but I was eager to know how he could speak and whether he could tell me how it was possible.

The cycle replied that before Vaisu bought him he belonged to a small boy whose father was a magician. As the magician was very famous the boy used to feel very lonely as he had no one to play with. So the magician had a wonderful idea.

He put a spell on me by which I was able to talk. The boy was thrilled as he had someone to talk to. When the boy became old enough to go to the school hostel to study I was sold to the shop.

So this is the reason why I can speak. The fact that I can speak is not the main problem here. You should learn to handle things with love whether they are living or non-living. Only ones we learn to do this would we grow up to be loving people.

By now Vaisu had started to feel really bad as he had not thought about this at all. From that day onwards he promised to himself and his cycle that he will take very good care of the things around him whether they are living or non-living.
