We use it normally in the following two senses.
1- To bring things together OR to establish contact between things
It gives the meaning of to attach or to join

Kinect:
Kinect is an input device.
It was manufactured by Microsoft.
It was produced for Xbox 360 & Xbox One. Xbox 360 and Xbox One are the famous video games consoles of the Microsoft.
Kinect is also used with Microsoft Windows PC.
This input device enables the us to control the console/computer. While using Kinect, you will have no need for a gaming controller. This device works through a natural UI (user-interface). It uses gestures for this purpose. It also uses spoken commands for this purpose.
Connect is a word. Which means to join things together, it also means to establish the contact between two things whether living or nonliving.
You can also use it to relate something.
Kinect on the other hand is an input device manufactured by Microsoft it is use in famous video games manufactured by Microsoft and is also used in Microsoft windows PC.
