TASK 7: PLURALS.
As in Spanish, we add an “S” to the nouns and they become plural:
* Car - cars, * horse, horses… However, there are some other forms in English. Let's review them:
1. Nouns ending in S, SH, CH, X, Z, O are added "ES".
Example: * Bus - buses * dish - dishes, * church - churches, * box - boxes, * potato - potatoes.
2. Nouns ending in “Y” preceded by a consonant are changed to “IES” Example: * city - cities * party - parties.
Note: If the word has a vowel before the "Y" only add "s" Example: * Boy - boys * toy - toys.
3. Nouns ending in “F”, “FE” is changed to “VES”
Example: * Wolf - wolves, * leaf - leaves, * half - halves * knife - knives.
4. Irregular Plurals: They are those that have a form for the singular and another form for the plural. Example: * Man - men, * woman - women, * child - children, * mouse - mice, * tooth - teeth, * foot - feet, * louse - lice, * ox - oxen, * goose - geese.
Now write this exercise in your notebook but include the translation of the examples and create an exercise for each type of plural, as you can see there are 4 types of plurals so you will write down 4 sentences with translation, for
Example if you already wrote the number 1 I choose a plural:
1
Near to my house are two (churches). Surround the plural you put in parentheses.
Near my house there are 2 churches
