                 = a²

When the side is halved

Side of the square= a÷2

                              =\frac{a}{2}

Now area= \frac{a}{2}×\frac{a}{2}

                = \frac{a^{2}}{4}

When the Side is doubled

Side of the square= 2a

Now area= 2a×2a

                = 4a²
