taxi charges in a city consist of fixed charges and the remaining depending upon the distance traveled in km. if a person travels 70 km he pays rupees 950. and for traveling 100 km he pays rupees 1250. express the above statement with the help of a simultaneous equation and find the fixed charges and rate per km​

Answer:

Let fixed charges and charge per Km be x and y respectively

then,

       x+110y=690⇒1 and x+200y=1050⇒2

             

             solving 1 and 2

              +x+110y=690

             + x+200y=1050

            (-)   (-)       (-)

                  -90y=-360

                 y=360/90

                 y=Rs4

         substiuting y in 1

         x+110y=690

         x+110*4=690

         x=250

Therefore fixed charge=250 and charge per Km = 4
