Tea growing in India in 19 century was made possible by Robert Fortune.

Robert Fortune was a Scottish botanist, plant hunter, and traveler. He was best known for he had stolen tea from China during his employment in the British East India company.

All the Tea activities such as exportation and certification are controlled by the Tea Board of India.
