HERE IS YOUR ANSWER !!

Tea Cultivation is an example of plantation agriculture. It is a very important beverage crop which was initially introduced in India by the British. Today, most of the tea plantations are owned by Indians. The tea plantations require tropical and subtropical climates endowed with deep and fertile drained soil, rich in humus and organic matter. Tea bushes require warm and moist frost-free climate throughout the year. Frequent showers over the year ensure continuous growth of tender leaves. Tea is a labour intensive industry which requires abundant, cheap and skilled labour. Major tea producing states are Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Badu and Kerala.

In 2008, India was the third largest producer of tea after China and Turkey.

Tea plantations look like a huge forest made up of small trees that rarely reach above 1.5m in height.

When their trunks are thick and gnarled, they show that their age is much greater than their small size would suggest.

In their natural state tea plants can reach a height of 15 to 20m. If they are to be cultivated they are kept at a height of about 1.20m by regular pruning, in order to form what is known as the "plucking table", which facilitates hand plucking and encourages bud growth.
