teacher conducted a fun activity in class X related to real numbers, she put cards numbered from 4 to 80 in a box and divided all the students of the class into two teams. Then she called students one by one and asked them to select any card from the box and speak out the property related to the number on the card to his teammates. If a member of the team gets a number satisfying that property the team will score one point otherwise not. Based on the above information, answer the following question:Garvit picks a card and speaks out "odd number", what is the probability of her team getting a mark?

Tip:

  • Probability is a number that reflects the chance or likelihood that a particular event will occur.

Explanation:

  • We have cards numbered from 4 to 80 in a box , A class is divided into two groups. . If a member of the team gets a number satisfying that property the team will score one point otherwise not.
  • We have to find the probability of her team getting a mark.

Step

Step 1 of 1:

Total number of outcomes = 77   (∵ both 4 and 80 are included)

Number of favorable outcomes =38 (∵ odd numbers between 4 and 80 are \frac{77-1}{2}=38)

So, Probability = \frac{Favourable~ outcomes}{Total ~ number ~ of ~outcomes}

                        =\frac{38}{77}

Final Answer:

The probability of getting a mark is \frac{38}{77}  .
